In the background
A record plays
A happy laughing girl
Mispronouncing a French verb

She bursts out laughing
In a voice
That doesn’t sound like me
It is me

A happy me
That I can't be
That recording
Can't be me

It sounds nothing like me
Yet I know it is me
How can it be
It is a happy me

Happy
When I'm terrified
Of what my future holds
Terrified
Of a chapter ending
Walking across that stage
And into a new world

On to college
Then real life
My house falling
Into my past

Growing one year older
And
Being another year farther away
From ‘normal life’

That voice can't be me
I'm terrified
It’s my life
I'm terrified
How then
Can that voice be me?

very nice, yes that can be a pretty stressful and scary time, but i've only heard good things about college, so try to do more looking forward to it :)
